Some considerations about the student movement
is clear that approaches a period of high mobilization of students. If we use it, we can make it really worthwhile, and not completed in a mere succession of processions and speeches more or less pronounced repetitive and boring by some aspiring leaders.
We have two diametrically opposed options.
one hand, we follow the usual path: to let our movements are driven by petty bureaucrats who love their "five minutes of fame" in front cameras and recorders. Generously offer us as audience to these "professionals militant" who want to educate and guide us because they think they lack the necessary awareness to do it ourselves. Disperse to a public fight the various factions who want to be our vanguard. Repeat a series of symbolic rituals. Watch passively as we are losing prominence at the hands of the self-styled "our representatives." Accept the conditions imposed on us by the authorities, and we see them weaker. Feel like every time the movement becomes more sterile and have less to do with it, and move away slowly. Accept defeat when there is nothing left, or worse, give our struggle peacefully to the authorities and signing the capitulation at a time when we can still fight. Content with a more or less important concession, and not move again until the "next opportunity" who knows when it will come. In short, returning home with the bitter feeling that nothing changed.
Or, we can take a completely different attitude and play us to be full owners of our own movement no longer means sacrificing nunca.Esto mainly looking at it and understand it differently. Thinking, this time as something that really belongs to us. As the weapon we can cease to be objects, viewers, consumers, voters, masses, underdeveloped, infants, unconscious, and that makes us full subjects, with full role in our lives. That opens up endless possibilities, gives us the word and takes it away to those who seek to saturate and drown her.
If you choose this second option, choose the path of independence, autonomy, self-management, building from the grassroots, collective creativity, the radical and continuous struggle.
But what does precisely this second way? Many things, of which several have already been implemented (giving large results) in a lot of movement, being perhaps the most recent and illustrative those by the French and Chilean students. Among those things is worthwhile mentioning the following.
On the one hand, it is necessary to take precautions to prevent the takeover of the movement by a bureaucracy: auto-call from the grassroots general assemblies, and / or require student organizations to do so. Not knowing any other authority external to these assemblies. Used as the only form of address the struggles and decide which claims to require measures to be taken, the formation of committees and election of presidents revocable and limited to specific issues under serious surveillance of assembly and completely subordinate to the command of it. Terminate immediately and unceremoniously to those leaders who fail or exceed their authority, and even expelled from the assembly to do so with shady interests. Do the same with those who act in any way against our collective ownership, such as attempting to monopolize the direction of movement in the hands of a minority and / or subordinate to any particular political party, organization, etc.. Also expel all groups and individuals who regularly carried any of the things previously mentioned, and those stated or declared by any means intend to do (especially those whose entire action responds to ideologies that call it) . Expel all persons and groups whose presence is considered detrimental to the movement. Prohibit contact with the media outside of that which is planned for the meeting and carried out by elected officials for that purpose. Prohibit the display of any symbol outside the movement (eg party flags, ideological, national or this or that character.) Set assembly everything is going to negotiate with the authorities and elect leaders who would lead it out, vote on all the possible arrangements, ignoring all agreements signed on the back of the assemblies (and expel those responsible for them to).
On the other hand, as regards the concrete struggles itself: never let the authorities to impose the conditions of the negotiation (place, time, machine, etc.) Always those that we impose more convenient, support all claims measurements of acceleration, reject any agreement that is not the record, constantly monitor compliance with all agreed terms. If carried out as great massive force and power and it is possible to hold any longer, not to leave until the authorities accept the grant of all that is required. If you also maintain that power and massiveness in any movement, take this opportunity to extend the protest statement to all those unwanted items. In particular, those requirements include requiring much power to be conquered. If they also benefit other groups or movements, going to consider the unity and coordination to give the common struggle. Always seek to extend and deepen it. Join forces with all who struggle in any area to voice their legitimate claims. Experience the freedom it gives us to occupy and appropriate the facilities in which we conduct our routine.
Finally, do not demobilize more that we have succeeded or not we demanded: use the momentum to begin to rethink all aspects of life, and attack those who consider undesirable.
